The index closed 1.79 points higher after gaining one points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 8% to VND17.111 trillion ($703.29 million).
Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND356 billion, mainly selling FUESSVFL exchange-traded fund and SSI of securities firm SSI, and buying VCB and MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, fell 0.45%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.46%.
