Voluntary programme supports needy people in Laos

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Unions of Quy Nhon University and of the General Hospital of Binh Dinh province jointly launched a voluntary programme in Champasak province, Laos on July 26.

During the five-day programme, the volunteer delegation will conduct many acitivities in the Lao province, including the donation of a computer and printer set worth 15 million VND to Champasak Primary School and 30 gifts worth 700,000 VND each to disadvantaged pupils and 70 gifts worth 400,000 VND each to needy households.

The delegation will also work with the Health Department of Champasak province to provide health examinations and medicine to local people in difficult circumstances.

During the voluntary trip, a culture and sport exchange programme is scheduled to be held to gather Lao students who have studied at Quy Nhon University.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Quy Nhon University Cao Ky Nam said: “The voluntary programme held in Laos every two years is a meaningful activity of Quy Nhon University. Thanks to the programme, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Unions of Quy Nhon University and of the General Hospital of Binh Dinh province are deeply aware of the role and responsibility of the youth and wish to contribute to fostering the great and time-honoured relationship between Vietnam and Laos.”
