Da Nang provides free health examinations and medicine to 2,000 Lao people

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Da Nang City began a volunteer programme in Salavan province, Laos on July 15 to assist about 2,000 local people.

The volunteer programme, with the participation of 37 Youth Union members, will run until July 21, with a total budget of over 300 million VND (nearly 12,700 USD).

The delegation will offer free health examinations and medicine to about 2,000 Lao people in Salavan province. Rice and necessities will also be presented to 200 households while learning tools will be given to 40 pupils in need.

In addition, a culture, arts and sports exchange will be included in the programme.

Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Da Nang City Le Cong Hung said, “Vietnam and Laos are two neighbours with a long-lasting friendship and traditional relationship, cultivated and promoted over the years. The Da Nang Youth Union will strive to hold practical volunteer activities to support the Lao people, contributing to fostering the special solidarity and comprehensive relationship between the two countries.”
