Winners of writing contest on protecting Party’s ideological foundation honoured

The winners of the second essay writing contest on protecting the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s ideological foundation were honoured at an awards presentation ceremony in Hanoi on October 22.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member Nguyen Xuan Thang, who is also Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, said that entries focused on supplementing and developing Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought; persistently pursuing the goal of national independence and socialism; addressing theoretical and practical issues of socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam, as well as theoretical and practical issues on the national reform policy; and protecting of principles of Party building.

The Politburo member, who is also deputy head of Steering Committee 135 on protecting the Party’s ideological foundation and refuting wrongful and hostile views, noted that the results of the contest have made an important contribution to the effective implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution No.35-NQ/TW, dated October 22, 2018, on “strengthening the protection of the Party’s ideological foundation and refuting wrongful and hostile views in the new situation.”

The contest also aimed to strengthen the force of writers with sharp pens, to criticise wrongful and hostile views, forming a source of high-quality writings, which serve as communications work, further popularising the Party’s viewpoints and policies, especially through the documents of the 13th National Party Congress, he noted.

This year’s contest attracted the participation of more than 11,800 entries from across the country. The contest had three categories: magazine (print or e-magazine), newspaper (print or e-paper), and radio/television/video clips.

The organisers awarded prizes in categories such as journal articles (print and electronic journals), newspapers (print and electronic newspapers), and radio/television/video clips.

Also at the ceremony, the fourth edition of the contest was launched by Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education.
