Workers’ Month launched in Ho Chi Minh City

The Ho Chi Minh City Labour Confederation held a ceremony on April 22 to launch Workers' Month and action month for labour safety and hygiene.

The Workers’ Month will feature various activities at trade unions at all levels, including meeting to honour outstanding workers, dialogues between employers and employees, and gift presentations to disadvantaged labourers.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai emphasised that the quality of the working class plays a decisive role in productivity, quality and efficiency of production and business, as well as the competitiveness of enterprises and the country’s socio-economic development

Given that, he asked the city’s trade union to pay greater attention to improving income, living conditions and welfare of workers and their families.

He also requested enterprises to improve employee relations and take prompt actions to handle any legal violations, that cause harm to the interests of employees.

At the event, the organising board presented 100 gifts, each worth 1 million VND, to disadvantaged trade union members and workers throughout the city.
