The event was co-organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).

The workshop affirmed the indispensable role of intellectual property in building policies on socio-economic development, as well as promoting the National Intellectual Property Strategy.

Speaking at the workshop, Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh stressed that countries worldwide have to rely on scientific and technology development and innovation in order to reach economic growth.

Participants also discussed the role of intellectual property and how to integrate intellectual property contents into socio-economic development policies in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

They agreed that IP contributes to building orientations, targets, missions and measures, thus serving as a tool for realising the development objectives of sectors, localities and the nation.

Participants also underscored the importance of State management agencies at all levels in outlining science and technology-based socio-economic development policies, adding that it is necessary to create links for promoting innovation in research institutes, universities and enterprises.
