Held annually, the Global Forum of Young Vietnamese Intellectuals has, over the years, played a vital role in harnessing brainpower, fostering policy dialogue, spreading the spirit of innovation, and, most importantly, driving concrete, practical actions to mobilise and leverage the intellectual potential of Vietnamese youth worldwide.
Over its five previous editions, the Forum has attracted more than 1,000 young intellectuals of Vietnamese origin, both from within the country and abroad, contributing to national development programmes and policies while tapping into the talent pool of the young Vietnamese diaspora.
The 6th Forum, held in Ha Noi from July 19 to 21, carries the theme: "Global Young Vietnamese Intellectuals contributing to Viet Nam’s Entry into a New Era."
Notably, more than 90% of the 201 official delegates are young Vietnamese talents trained overseas. Among them are over 60 emerging professionals currently working in dozens of countries and territories around the world.
This year’s delegates bring expertise across a wide range of disciplines aligned with Viet Nam’s future development priorities, including nuclear physics, rocket propulsion, artificial intelligence algorithms, green economics, banking and finance, biomedical engineering, linguistics, and more.
From these diverse fields, participants will propose solutions on four key pillars: applying AI and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, fostering innovative startups in alignment with the green economy and sustainable development, adapting effectively to global transformations, and developing culture and education.
According to Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and President of the Viet Nam Youth Federation, the delegates were selected from over 600 applications. These were then categorised into five major sectors: science-technology, economics-governance, health-medicine, environment-sustainability, and education-social development. In addition, the 15-member Advisory Council of the Forum comprises highly respected professionals from both regional and international scientific communities.
“This year’s delegate group is remarkably diverse, balancing seasoned scientists with a dynamic generation of young intellectuals working and researching at top global institutions”, said Nguyen Tuong Lam. “They represent a valuable resource capable of directly contributing to national policymaking, science and technology development, innovative entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer for the country’s development.”
This year’s Forum introduces substantial innovations in both content and approach. While maintaining the academic rigour of previous editions, this year’s Forum places greater emphasis on linking young intellectuals with Viet Nam’s real-world development landscape. This includes hands-on experiences, in-depth dialogues with leading corporations, and engagement with top-tier innovation ecosystems across the country.
Thematically, the discussions will target pressing global challenges, with dialogue sessions focusing not just on theoretical analysis but also on actionable policy recommendations that can be rapidly translated into tangible outcomes post-forum.
In 2025, the world witnessed swift, complex, and unpredictable global changes. The Vietnamese Party and Government are also issuing major policies to transform the growth model, foster a knowledge-based economy, increase productivity, and enhance national competitiveness.
The innovation of the Forum is poised to provide a meaningful platform for young Vietnamese intellectuals worldwide to exchange ideas, collaborate, and engage with policy and market forces. Ultimately, it aims to "unlock" the flow of innovation and knowledge from the nation’s young talent into the broader development journey of Viet Nam in this new era.
