On the evening of July 27 in Ha Noi, the Department of Political Affairs under the Ministry of Public Security held the 2025 People’s Public Security Theatre Week to mark the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security force (August 19, 1945 –2025), and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 –2025).
In her opening remarks, Colonel and People’s Artist Nguyen Thi Thuy Hien, Director of the People’s Public Security Theatre, emphasised that over 80 years of building, fighting and maturing, the People’s Public Security force has always served as the sharp and steadfast sword of the Party. The image of the public security officer has become a great source of inspiration for literary and artistic creation, including theatre.
According to the Director of the People’s Public Security Theatre, this year’s event brings together prestigious art troupes, each presenting works with profound themes and artistic merit, praising the public security officer from historical and social perspectives — from the pages of heroic history to sincere, everyday life stories.
Kicking off the theatre week, the People’s Public Security Theatre staged “The Third Person”, directed by People’s Artist Le Hung and scripted by Minh Anh. The play pays tribute to the heroic feats and silent sacrifices of the People’s Public Security force and of Vietnamese artists and intellectuals in the struggle for national liberation and reunification.
The play was awarded the Gold Medal at the 5th Professional Performing Arts Festival dedicated to the image of the People's Public Security officer in 2025.
In addition to “The Third Person”, seven other plays will be performed for the public during the Theatre Week.
All plays within the theatre week will be performed at the Viet Nam National Music, Song and Dance Theatre, No. 8 Huynh Thuc Khang Street, Ha Noi.
