Experts shared this discussion at a talk, themed “AI application in manufacturing: driving force for innovation and development”, held by Industry and Trade Magazine in Hanoi on March 31.
According to Hoang Ninh, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, one of the outstanding applications of AI in manufacturing is predictive maintenance, helping businesses identify early risks of machine failure, minimising production interruptions. In addition, AI is also being strongly applied in product quality control with higher accuracy than humans.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has actively invited leading enterprises in the 4.0 industrial revolution and AI, such as SIEMENS, Samsung, and Toyota, to organise training conferences and courses for enterprises to increase human resources and promote incentives for enterprises in the industry to apply scientific and technological advances, especially regarding AI in production. The move also aims to strengthen international cooperation in the application of science and technology to take advantage of the experience of foreign corporations, enterprises, and governments.
Ninh stressed that the application of AI in production in Vietnam is increasingly popular, helping enterprises improve productivity, optimise processes and minimise waste. Several industries and fields in industry and trade have successfully applied AI.
However, AI implementation requires businesses to invest systematically in data infrastructure and personnel training, while resources are limited. Experts recommend that there should be support policies from the government, as well as cooperation promotion between businesses and technology organisations to maximise the potential of AI in production.
Despite many challenges, AI is still considered an important key to help the Vietnamese manufacturing industry make a breakthrough in the digital transformation period.
