Swiss-Viet Nam Economic Forum explores investment opportunities in Vinh Long

A delegation from the Swiss-Viet Nam Economic Forum, led by Secretary General Rachel Nguyen Isenschmid, paid a working visit to Vinh Long Province on July 17 to explore investment opportunities.

At the event, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vinh Long Provincial People’s Committee Dang Van Chinh briefed the delegation on the province’s potential and strengths following the merger.

Located in a strategic central position in the Mekong Delta region, with a natural area of over 6,200 km² and a population of more than 4.1 million after the merger and featuring a dense network of rivers and canals and convenient land and waterway transportation systems, Vinh Long Province serves as a key hub connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the coastal provinces of the Mekong Delta. This brings important advantages for regional linkage and socio-economic development in the southern area.

In recent years, Vinh Long has achieved remarkable results across the fields of economy, culture, society, national defence, and security. The provincial economy has shifted in the right direction and maintained stable growth, focusing on high-tech agriculture, agricultural product processing industries, renewable energy development, and eco-cultural tourism.

In addition, the province has promoted digital transformation, innovation, and the application of science and technology across all sectors, aiming towards a green and sustainable growth model. Vinh Long also focuses on improving the investment and business environment, attracting focused investment, while enhancing the efficiency of public investment management and use.

Speaking at the working session, members of the delegation expressed intrest potential and strengths of Vinh Long Province, including many sectors they are exploring for investment and expansion.

The Swiss-Vietnam Economic Forum expressed its desire to invest in various fields, prioritising solar energy, wind power, digitalisation in the health and education sectors, among others.
