Alizé Lim wins double titles at VTF Pro Tour 4

Vietnamese-French tennis player, Alizé Lim, clinched the championship title of both the women’s singles and doubles categories at the ongoing VTF Pro Tour 4 – Hung Thinh Cup 2018, in Ho Chi Minh City, on September 30.

The former world no. 135 came from 1-3 down to beat Vietnamese-Hungarian opponent, Fodor Csilla, 7-5 in the first set, before claiming a rapid 6-2 triumph in set no. 2 to bring home the singles trophy.

Alizé Lim then paired up with HCM City teammate Phan Nhu Quynh to win the doubles crown after finishing off the Army team duo, Nguyen Tu Kim Ngan and Nguyen Thi Be Xuyen, with a score of 7-5, 6-0 in the final match.

The brilliant performance of Alizé Lim has brightened Vietnamese tennis’s outlook for conquering the gold medals at the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, as she is expected to play in the colour of Vietnam in the largest regional sporting event next year.

Top seed Hoang Thanh Trung (the People’s Public Security team) will meet second-seed Nguyen Dac Tien in the men’s singles final following their respective semi-final wins over Alexander Truong Giang Thanh (Hung Thinh-HCM City) and Timothy Toan Phung of Hai Dang Tay Ninh.

Regarding the men’s doubles event, Bui Tri Nguyen and Nguyen Anh Thang from the Hai Dang Tay Ninh team overcame the Army opponents, Le Trung Tinh and Tran Hoang Anh Khoa, in two sets with the same score of 6-4 to set up a title match with Le Quoc Khanh and Le Phuong Dang from Hung Thinh-HCM City.

The men’s final clashes will take place on October 1.

The VTF Pro Tour 4 is taking place from September 23 to October 1, offering VND40 million (US$1,720) and VND30 million (US$1,290) for the men’s and women’s singles champions, respectively. The winners of the men’s and women’s doubles events will receive corresponding stakes of VND10 million and VND8 million.
