The event featured the participation of leaders of several central ministries and Hanoi municipal agencies, ambassadors, representatives from foreign embassies in Vietnam, international and non-governmental organisations, and foreign students studying in Hanoi.

Speaking at the programme, Chairman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations (HAUFO) Nguyen Ngoc Ky affirmed that 2023 was a successful year for the capital city's foreign affairs in the context of intertwined challenges and opportunities as well as the establishment and upgrading of many bilateral and multilateral relations between Hanoi and other countries and territories, localities, and foreign organisations.

Many exchange activities were organised, opening up orientations for cooperation in the areas of economics, politics, culture, and society, contributing to improving the position of Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general in the international arena, he added.

For his part, Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam Saadi Salama, who is Head of the Diplomatic Corps in Vietnam, extended his wish of a peaceful, happy and prosperous new year to Hanoi citizens.

He also expressed his hope that HAUFO will make more successes in promoting people-to-people diplomacy and fostering solidarity and friendship between the people of Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general with the international community.

Reviewing experiences in foreign affairs, particularly people-to-people diplomacy, in 2023, the participants affirmed the capital city’s role in developing and evaluating the diplomatic ties between Vietnam and other countries around the world.
