With eight-games remaining, second-placed Real maintained their slim title hopes by moving to 65 points. Barca have a game in hand and host third-placed Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

* Goals from Harry Wilson and Andreas Pereira handed Fulham a 2-1 victory over Leeds United at Craven Cottage on Saturday, denting the visitors' Premier League survival hopes and cementing the west London side's position in the top half of the table.

* Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah were on target as Liverpool edged Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest 3-2 in a thrilling clash at Anfield on Saturday (Apr 22) to climb to seventh in the table.

* Leicester City came from behind to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 with goals from Kelechi Iheanacho and Timothy Castagne on Saturday to snap a 10-match run without a victory in all competitions and keep alive their Premier League survival bid.

* Brentford brought Aston Villa's run of five straight wins in the Premier League to an end in west London on Saturday, with the visitors securing a late 1-1 draw through Douglas Luiz after Ivan Toney had scored his 20th goal of the season for the Bees.

* Everton ended Crystal Palace's winning run under returning coach Roy Hodgson when they held out for a 0-0 Premier League draw at Selhurst Park on Saturday (Apr 22) but the Merseyside club dropped into the relegation zone.

* League leaders Bayern Munich slumped to a 3-1 loss at Mainz 05 on Saturday (Apr 22), conceding all three goals in a span of 14 minutes in their latest slip-up which could prove costly in the race for the Bundesliga title with five games remaining.

* Riyad Mahrez scored a hat-trick as Manchester City snapped their losing streak in FA Cup semi-finals with a 3-0 stroll over second-tier Sheffield United at Wembley on Saturday (Apr 22).

* A first-half goal by midfielder Ivan Ilic secured Torino a surprise 1-0 win at second-placed Lazio in Serie A on Saturday as Ivan Juric's side returned to winning ways and into the top 10. Torino, winless in their previous four games, moved up one place to 10th on 42 points.

* Borussia Dortmund cruised past Eintracht Frankfurt 4-0, with two goals coming from Donyell Malen, on Saturday to take over the lead in the Bundesliga from Bayern Munich with five matches left in the season. Dortmund scored three times in the first half to make sure of a club-record ninth straight home game win that lifted them to 60 points, one ahead of Bayern, who slumped to a 3-1 loss at Mainz 05.

* Lois Openda shone as RC Lens boosted their Champions League hopes with a 3-0 home win against Monaco, one of their direct rivals for a spot in Europe's premium club competition, in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

* World number two Carlos Alcaraz reached the final of the Barcelona Open after beating Briton Daniel Evans 6-2 6-2 on Saturday to set up a showdown with fellow top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas who defeated Italian Lorenzo Musetti 6-4 5-7 6-3.

* World number one Iga Swiatek moved into the Stuttgart Open final on Saturday after her opponent Ons Jabeur retired injured three games into the first set. The Pole on Sunday will face Aryna Sabalenka in a repeat of last year's final, following the Belarusian's comfortable straight sets victory over Anastasia Potapova.

* Novak Djokovic has pulled out of next week's Madrid Open, organisers said on Saturday, with the world number one joining Rafa Nadal on the sidelines. Djokovic, who was unable to play in the US hardcourt swing earlier this year because he has not been vaccinated against COVID-19, was preparing for the clay season but got knocked out early at the Monte Carlo Masters and Banja Luka Open.

* Barcelona edged Chelsea 1-0 in the first leg of their Women's Champions League semi-final at Stamford Bridge on Saturday after Caroline Graham Hansen's early strike gave the Spanish side a narrow advantage ahead of the return leg at the Camp Nou.

* New Zealand's Mitch Evans led Britain's Sam Bird to Jaguar's first ever Formula E one-two in a chaotic race in Berlin on Saturday. The victory, from ninth on the grid at the circuit around the city's old Tempelhof airport, was Evans's second in a row - after Sao Paulo on March 25 - in the all-electric world championship.

* Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku will play in the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg against Juventus on Wednesday after his one-match ban was overturned on Saturday by the president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) as a measure to fight racism.

* Wrexham secured a fairytale return to the English Football League after a 15-year absence with their Hollywood owners watching on as they beat Boreham Wood 3-1 to win the National League with a game to spare on Saturday.
