Nhan Dan National Table Tennis Championships to feature 14 top teams

The 44th Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championships for the Ca Mau Fertiliser Cup 2026 will take place in Hai Phong from August 8 to 16, bringing together the country's leading players in what is expected to be one of Viet Nam's most competitive domestic tournaments.

Delegates attend the press conference on July 31.

The tournament, jointly organised by Nhan Dan Newspaper, the Viet Nam Sports Authority, the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Viet Nam Table Tennis Federation, will be held at the Hai Phong Sports Training and Competition Centre.

Speaking at a press conference on July 31, Que Dinh Nguyen, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper and Deputy Head of the tournament's Steering Committee, said that although administrative restructuring had reduced the number of participating provincial teams, the overall standard of competition had improved thanks to stronger, more competitive squads.

Fourteen teams representing localities and sectors across the country are expected to field nearly 140 athletes, including members of the national team and promising young players who have recently achieved success at home and abroad.

Competitors will contest seven events: men's and women's team, men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Outstanding young male and female players will also receive special awards recognising emerging talent.

Ahead of the national championships, the organisers will stage the inaugural Nhan Dan Newspaper National Open Table Tennis Cup 2026 from August 3 to 5, featuring around 20 mixed-team clubs and more than 120 players. The event is designed to promote grassroots participation and provide additional competitive opportunities before the elite championships begin.

Now in its 44th edition, the championships remain Viet Nam's most prestigious annual table tennis tournament. PetroVietnam Ca Mau Fertiliser has continued as the title sponsor for a 14th consecutive year, while the event will be broadcast live on VTV8 and covered extensively across digital and social media platforms.
