What makes this year's tournament even more special is its timing as it takes place on the occasion of the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19), in the lead-up to the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), and shortly after the 50th anniversary of Da Nang’s liberation.
This year’s tournament is taking place amid a wave of enthusiasm surrounding Vietnamese table tennis, which has seen recent technical progress, particularly as athletes intensify their training and competitive exposure in preparation for the upcoming 33rd SEA Games and the National Sports Games in 2026.
In addition to the national team’s achievements at the Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championships at the end of 2024, highlighted by Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh’s prestigious gold medal in the women’s singles, Viet Nam’s young players have also made notable progress, underlining the sport’s development potential. Most recently, the Vietnamese youth team won one gold and five bronze medals at the 2025 Southeast Asian Youth Championships.
