In her opening address, Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chair of the Ha Noi People’s Committee, emphasised that the race formed part of a series of activities marking the 72nd anniversary of the capital’s Liberation Day and the 27th anniversary of Ha Noi’s recognition as a UNESCO “City for Peace”.
According to Nguyen Ngoc Ky, Chair of the Ha Noi Union of Friendship Organisations, sport can serve as a bridge between individuals, nations and cultures, helping to promote understanding, respect and solidarity.
Delegates, athletes and international friends attending the event spread a call to end violence and conflict, and to advance dialogue, goodwill and mutual respect towards a peaceful and prosperous world.
Indonesia’s Ambassador to Viet Nam, Adam Tugio, described the race as a meaningful activity for health and a reminder of the value of peace, while Singapore’s Ambassador to Viet Nam, Rajpal Singh, said encounters along the running route demonstrated sport’s ability to connect people and foster cultural understanding.
On this occasion, the organisers donated 100 million VND to Ha Noi’s Fund for the Poor, speading the message “Every run – a beautiful act for the community”.
