Thousands to run in support of Earth Hour 2026 and promote a green lifestyle

With the message “Green Innovation – Green Future”, on the morning of March 21, 2026, in Ha Noi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will officially launch the Earth Hour 2026 campaign. The highlight of the event is a running race attracting more than 2,000 participants, aiming to inspire the spirit of energy saving and to form civilised consumption habits within the community.

Earth Hour is a global communication campaign of broad significance, implemented in many countries to promote a shift in mindset, the application of technology and changes in energy use towards efficiency and modernity. In Viet Nam, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has been the lead agency organising responses to the Earth Hour campaign for many years, attracting active participation from provinces and cities nationwide, with various groups and participants involved, thereby bringing about high and practical communication effectiveness.

Building on this success, on March 21, 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will organise the launching ceremony of “All people using energy efficiently and economically and responding to the Earth Hour Campaign 2026” and the running race in response to “All people using energy efficiently and economically and responding to the Earth Hour Campaign 2026” at the Creative Cultural Space of Tay Ho ward, Ha Noi.

The programme is expected to attract more than 2,000 participants, contributing to spreading the message of efficient and economical energy use and promoting a green lifestyle within the community.

Within the framework of the launching ceremony on the morning of March 21, 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will organise a running race in response to “All people using energy efficiently and economically and responding to the Earth Hour Campaign 2026”.

In the context of the continuing complex developments of conflicts in the Middle East, which are increasing risks to the global energy supply chain and posing challenges to ensuring energy security for many countries, the Government, the Prime Minister and ministries and sectors have implemented many synchronous and flexible solutions to ensure energy security. Efficient and economical energy use continues to be identified as one of the important solutions to minimise supply risks, reduce production costs and enhance the competitiveness of the economy.

The Prime Minister has assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to develop energy-saving scenarios, intensify communication across society, promptly launch movements on energy saving and the use of green energy, reduce emissions; encourage energy transition, develop transport using clean energy; strengthen fuel saving in the transport sector and promote the use of public transport.

At the same time, functional agencies are reviewing conditions to implement a roadmap for the transition to E10 biofuel, contributing to reducing the consumption of fossil petrol and diversifying energy supply sources.

Also within the programme, an online contest in response to the movement “All people using energy efficiently and economically” and the Earth Hour 2026 Campaign will be organised at the website: tietkiemnangluong.com.vn, consisting of three rounds from March 21 to April 11, in the form of multiple-choice questions.

Through a series of practical activities, the Ministry of Industry and Trade expects to mobilise “all people to use energy efficiently and economically and respond to the Earth Hour Campaign 2026”, encourage the formation of civilised and efficient energy consumption habits in the community, contributing to building an economy developing in a green and sustainable direction.

The lights-off event in response to Earth Hour 2026 will take place from 20:30 to 21:30, Saturday, March 28, 2026.
