Phuong Giang was the seventh player in the list of nine finalists in the women's changquan event this morning. She performed admirably to score 9.71 points but it was not enough for her to claim gold.
The 1992 born athlete finished just 0.03 points lower than the gold medalist, China’s Qi Xinyi (9.74 points). The silver medal went to Li Yi from Macau (China) with 9.72 points, just 0.01 points higher than Phuong Giang.

However, this achievement is also very encouraging for the Vietnamese athlete, as four years ago at Asiad 2014 in Incheon, the Republic of Korea, Phuong Giang ranked fourth overall in the same category.
Giang's best achievements in the international arena are the two gold medals she won at the World Championships in 2011 and 2013, in duilian and daoshu, respectively. In the regional playground, the Hanoi girl won her the first gold medal in changquan at the 2013 Southeast Asian Games. She later won another gold medal in the women's gunshu event at the next Southeast Asian Games in 2017.
