Asian U14 tennis tournament opens in Bac Ninh

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) Asia 14 & Under Development Championships 2024 regional qualifying officially opened on January 8 in the northern province of Bac Ninh.

The event has attracted the participation of 70 athletes and coach from 14 countries and territories.

In his opening speech, Vice President of the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF) Nguyen Hong Son said the tournament had helped young local players to improve their positions in the ITF’s rankings while also competing against international players.

Athletes from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Japan, Macau (China), Singapore, Sri Lanka, and hosts country Vietnam will compete at the Hanaka Paris Ocean Park Tennis Courts in Tu Son city of Bac Ninh province. Teams are allowed to register a total of two boys and three girls for one category.

The tournament is scheduled to last through to January 18, with the four teams with the best results ultimately qualifying for the championships’ final round which is scheduled to take place in India from April 8-17.
