Attending the ceremony were former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former Permanent Member of the Secretariat Le Hong Anh, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, and leaders of ministries, central and local branches.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested leaders of Kien Giang Province, Phu Quoc City, and central ministries and branches to strictly implement the standing government's directives on preparations for APEC 2027 Summit Week, as well as to urgently establish the steering committee for organising APEC 2027 Summit Week and maintain its operation at least once a month.
The Deputy PM directed ministries, branches, Kien Giang Province, and Phu Quoc City to make proper preparations for investment, site clearance, and security for projects serving APEC 2027, as well as promote investment promotion and attract strategic domestic and international investors with sufficient potential and capacity to participate in infrastructure and service projects serving APEC 2027 and serving the socio-economic development of Phu Quoc in the long run.
In addition, it is crucial to urgently review and identify invested projects that meet the conditions for serving APEC 2027 to have plans for renovation and quality improvement, ensuring standards when organizing APEC 2027.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha directed ministries, branches, Kien Giang Province, and Phu Quoc City to pay attention to infrastructure projects serving APEC 2027 towards ensuring aesthetic function, energy saving, harmony with the environment and natural landscape, and suitability with the local and Vietnamese cultural identity to become a highlight for Phu Quoc's development.
According to the deputy prime minister, this is a very special international foreign political event that Vietnam has been honoured to host, with Phu Quoc pearl island — one of the most beautiful islands in the world in Vietnam — as the venue.
Therefore, it is necessary to clearly identify that hosting APEC 2027 Summit Week is both a great honour and a very heavy responsibility. At the same time, this is also a special opportunity to help Phu Quoc become a focal point of the world, affirming its position as one of the most beautiful tourist paradises on the planet, demonstrating Vietnam's, Kien Giang's, and Phu Quoc's capacity to organise major world-class events.
Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee, said that the APEC 2027 event is an extremely valuable opportunity, a breakthrough, opening strong development for Phu Quoc in the new era — the era of national rise.
Recently, Kien Giang Province proactively reviewed, assessed, and identified that there is still much work to be done in a very short time. The city’s authorities have proposed the adjustment and supplementation of some planning points to build some key projects as well as appropriate mechanisms and policies to the government.
Accordingly, Phu Quoc City will expand Phu Quoc International Airport and An Thoi Seaport, as well as build works serving the event such as an APEC boulevard, APEC multi-functional complex, water and waste treatment systems, and so on.
