Bac Ninh Province maintained 29,800 hectares of concentrated lychee-growing areas, the largest in the country, including 8,200 hectares of early-ripening lychees and 21,600 hectares of main-season lychees. The VietGAP-certified cultivation area covered 17,500 hectares, while 1,400 hectares met GlobalGAP standards.
The main harvest season ran from May 15 to July 20. This year, management of growing area codes was further strengthened, with 243 registered codes covering a total of 17,451 hectares for export. These included 126 codes for China (16,176 hectares), 21 for the US, 29 for Australia, 25 for Thailand, and 40 for Japan.
The province had 42 packing facilities that met export requirements.
This year also marked the first organisation of the "Beautiful Lychee Orchard" programme — which recognised 143 orchards, integrated them into Google Maps, and held a competition that honoured the 15 most outstanding orchards — linking agricultural production with experiential tourism.
According to the 2026 report, total revenue from lychees and related supporting services in Bac Ninh Province is estimated to have exceeded 9 trillion VND. Of this figure, revenue from lychee sales is estimated at more than 7.26 trillion VND, while supporting activities and services generated more than 1.74 trillion VND. The average selling price of fresh lychees exceeded 55,000 VND per kg.
Most of the lychee crop was sold as fresh fruit. The remainder was processed into canned lychees, dried lychees, frozen lychees, and other products, all of which were marketed successfully.
Production management was implemented systematically from an early stage. The Provincial People's Committee established a Steering Board and specialised working groups with clearly defined responsibilities covering production, trade promotion, logistics, quality management, and communications.
The Department of Industry and Trade led a wide range of trade promotion activities, including a market assessment conference and agreement-signing ceremony on April 28. A conference to promote the consumption of lychees and other key agricultural products was held on May 28 with the participation of trade representatives, Chinese border authorities, supermarket chains, and logistics companies.
The Department of Industry and Trade also organised four livestream sales events directly from the growing areas in cooperation with TikTok Shop and Viettel Post. These events attracted millions of views and helped deliver hundreds of tonnes of lychees and OCOP products to consumers.
The province also established the Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) Club and a Key Opinion Consumers (KOC) Club for lychee products to strengthen digital communications and promotional activities.
At the same time, logistics infrastructure continued to be enhanced through the Bac Ninh International Logistics Centre, which provides multimodal transport connections, cold storage, refrigerated warehouses, customs services, and a wholesale export agricultural products centre. These facilities help accelerate customs clearance and improve the preservation of lychees.
In 2027, the province will continue expanding areas certified under VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and organic standards. It will also strengthen the management of growing area codes and packing facilities, promote stronger value chain linkages, and the application of technology and digital transformation in trade promotion.
The province will maximise the effectiveness of the logistics centre to optimise transportation and storage, expand access to premium markets, integrate agricultural production with eco-tourism, and support investment in deep processing to enhance the sustainable competitiveness of lychee growers.
The overarching objective remains to establish quality as the foundation, market demand as the guiding principle, and the economic benefits of farmers as the central focus.
