Tan Uyen becomes the fourth city in Binh Duong Province, the other three being the capital Thu Dau Mot, Thuan An and Di An.

The new city has been upgraded from the former Tan Uyen Town and is comprised of ten wards and two communes.

Speaking at the ceremony, National Assembly Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man praised the exceptional socio-economic achievements recorded by Tan Uyen City and Binh Duong Province in general.

He asked Tan Tuyen city to focus on enhancing the quality of urban development aligned with economic management, as well as allocating land to build social housing and other social infrastructure in order to ensure balanced and sustainable development.

Tan Uyen is among the pioneers in industrialisation, with annual economic growth averaging 12.57%, this being led by industrial production.

The city is currently home to 1,866 domestic enterprises and 637 foreign-invested companies.

Binh Duong is aiming to develop Tan Uyen City into a major industrial, financial, trade, services and cultural centre in the south of the province, attracting people from Ho Chi Minh City to live and work.
