* The Nghi Xuan district in the central province of Ha Tinh officially launched the Xuan Thanh beach tourism season on April 28, with the attendance of Party Central Committee member and National Assembly Vice Chairman, Uong Chu Luu.
A number of cultural and sporting events and art performances praising the people’s love of their country and its sea and islands were held during the opening ceremony.
Tens of billions of VND has been invested over the past year to improve services and upgrade infrastructure, hotels and restaurants,in the Xuan Thanh tourist area.
* The 2013 Mau Son tourism festival was held in the Loc Binh district of northern mountainous Lang Son province on April 27-28.
The festival featured various events such as a ritual sacrifice to the god of Phat Chi Mountain, as well as camping, sports competitions, and cultural exchanges. Tourism associations in the province and Hanoi also signed a co-operation agreement on the occasion.
* The 37th traditional cross-country run was held in Ho Chi Minh City on April 28, attracting nearly 2000 runners from 24 districts and sports centres in the city and provinces around the country. The race included categories for children, teenagers and adults.
* In addition to rallies celebrating the national holidays and commemorating heroic martyrs, the southern province of Binh Duong held a photography exhibition on the province and art performances at cultural centres and workers’ housing complexes, as well as a mini football tournament competition for workers, officials and employees in industrial zones.
* The Binh Thuan provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism co-ordinated with the Vietravel Company to launch the ‘Binh Thuan Environmentally Responsible Tourism’ programme at Doi Duong Park in Phan Thiet city. The campaign aims to encourage people to clean up the environment to promote tourism during the upcoming national holidays.
* The Nguyen Sinh Sac Relic Site in Cao Lanh city, southern Dong Thap province, announced it will be open daily until 10pm during the holidays. Photographs and documents related to President Ho Chi Minh and his father, Nguyen Sinh Sac, will be on display, along with 50 oil paintings featuring the beauty of the province’s landscapes and people. A number of films about Uncle Ho will also be screened for the first time on the occasion.
