“Proud to be Vietnamese” - Symphony of love for the homeland

On the evening of August 17, an audience of around 30,000 people gathered at My Dinh National Stadium Square in Ha Noi for a special art programme titled “Tu hao la nguoi Viet Nam” (Proud to be Vietnamese).

The event was organised by the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Commission for Communications, Education and Mass Mobilisation in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ha Noi Municipal People’s Committee, and Viet Nam Television.

Attending the programme were Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communications, Education and Mass Mobilisation; General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission’s Standing Committee, and Director of the General Department of Politics of the Viet Nam People’s Army; and Mai Van Chinh, member of the PCC and Deputy Prime Minister.

The “Proud to be Vietnamese” programme featured three chapters, themed “Origins – Calling the name of Viet Nam”, “One Viet Nam – Millions of Hearts”, and “Proud to be Vietnamese”.

The show brought together renowned artists such as Tung Duong, Hoa Minzy, Anh Tu, Duong Hoang Yen, Lam Bao Ngoc, Ha An Huy, Meritorious Artist Hoang Tung, Pham Thu Ha, Le Anh Dung, the rock band Buc Tuong, performers Duong Tran Nghia, Huyen Trang, Lam Phuc,and the Oplus group, along with 500 artists and dancers.

The production featured elaborate live performances with high-quality sound, lighting, and visual systems, offering audiences a breathtaking, uplifting experience that bridged performers and viewers.

The combination of traditional and contemporary works, including audience favourites such as “Lake on the Mountain”, “Love Song of the Northwest”, “Bonjour Viet Nam”, “You in my eyes” and “Discovery – The Road to Glory”. Notably, audiences heard “The Pain of Peace” by composer Nguyen Van Chung for the first time, performed by Hoa Minzy; the song will feature as the soundtrack of the upcoming film “Red rain” set to be released next week.

The audiences were also deeply moved by the programme’s opening rendition of the national anthem “Tien quan ca”(The Marching Song) by composer Van Cao, performed by singer Tung Duong and a large choir.

Following the opening, organisers opened the gates to allow even more members of the public to enjoy the programme.

The special “Proud to be Vietnamese” art event was broadcast live on VTV1 and relayed on numerous local television channels, as well as livestreamed on digital platforms.
