“Van Gogh Timeless” officially opened in Ha Noi, inviting the public on an artistic journey through the timeless masterpieces of Vincent van Gogh. This marks the first time Ha Noi has hosted a licensed Van Gogh exhibition from France, featuring 165 masterpieces recreated using state-of-the-art technologies and offering a new way to experience art in which visitors can truly immerse themselves in the works.
For centuries, paintings have traditionally been appreciated from a distance, with the frame forming a boundary between viewers and artworks. “Van Gogh Timeless” seeks to erase that boundary. Visitors are invited to step into a multisensory artistic world where projected images, light, sound and colour blend with immersive installations that both honour Van Gogh’s works and create a contemporary, technology-driven experience.
The exhibition simultaneously incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as 3D mapping projection, VR and AR, LiDAR and surround sound, combined with research into the effects of sound frequencies on human emotions.
In particular, the exhibition employs advanced technology from Vioso, a leading name behind major projection-mapping projects around the world. The entire exhibition uses approximately 74 high-end projectors, generating a combined 613,785,600 pixels at any given moment to deliver an impressive multisensory experience.
At the opening ceremony, “Van Gogh Timeless” unveiled its exclusive concept, “Van Gogh and Light Across Civilisations”. Drawing inspiration from the role of light in Van Gogh’s imagination and masterpieces, as well as the evolution of human civilisations, each experiential space offers a new perspective on beauty, art and timeless creativity.
The concept is brought to life through 13 experiential zones, taking visitors through different chapters of a journey across time with Van Gogh. From golden wheat fields and star-filled skies to radiant sunflowers and the distinctive colours and brushstrokes of Van Gogh’s paintings, each space is designed as a successive layer of emotion.
Light and technology become storytelling tools, recounting the life, creative aspirations and artistic legacy of Vincent van Gogh in a way that resonates more closely with contemporary audiences.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vu Thi Thu Quynh, co-founder of Emerart, said: “Each masterpiece tells an artistic story reflecting symbolic cultural and artistic values. We created this exhibition to remove the invisible boundaries between art and life. In their place, we have created a space where visitors can immerse themselves in these inspiring values.”
As cultural industries increasingly become an important driver of development, professionally developed projects with international licensing and innovative technological applications such as “Van Gogh Timeless” are expected to further enrich Ha Noi’s cultural life.
Vu Van Tien, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ABBank, expressed his belief that Van Gogh Timeless would offer the public an opportunity to forge a deeper connection with art and with the enduring, positive values of life.
As technology becomes a bridge connecting emotions and art is presented through increasingly creative forms, the world’s great masterpieces can continue to inspire and reach new generations of art lovers in Viet Nam.
