Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin was born on February 4, 1964, in Saratov province. In 1986, he graduated from the Department of Organisation and Technology of Machine Repair, the Saratov Institute of Agricultural Mechanics named after M.I.Kalinin, with a major in mechanical engineering. In 1995, he graduated graduate from the Russian Academy of State Service and receive a law degree. In 1989, he defended his associate doctoral thesis for the degree of candidate of sciences. In 1996, he defended his doctoral dissertation in Judicial Sciences.
From 1990 to 1993, he was a deputy of the Saratov City Council and the Saratov Provincial Council. In the period 1994-1999, he was Deputy Chairman of the Saratov Oblast’ Duma, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of Saratov Oblast’. From 2000 to 2010, he was Deputy of the State Duma, Headed the “Fatherland – All Russia” faction, Secretary of the Presidium of the UNITED RUSSIA General Council. From 2010 to 2016, he held the position of Deputy Prime Minister -Head of Executive Office of the Government of the Russian Federation, the first deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation.
From October 2016 to October 2021, he held the position of Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the 7th convocation. From October 2021 to present, he continues to serve as Chairman of the 8th State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the 8th convocation.
