Speaking at the event, Chilean Ambassador to Viet Nam Nasly Isabel Bernal Prado affirmed that, over the past 55 years, Chile–Viet Nam relations have flourished into an open, dynamic, and strategically oriented partnership, with Viet Nam being Chile’s largest trading partner in ASEAN.
She emphasised that Chile wishes to continue upholding its role as a reliable, stable, and influential partner of Viet Nam in the Latin American region.
For his part, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang expressed his delight that, looking back over the past 55 years, the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Viet Nam and Chile have been consistently consolidated, broadened, and deepened.
The leaders of both countries have maintained regular high-level exchanges and communications. Of particular note was former State President Luong Cuong’s official visit to Chile in November 2024, and Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez Mackenna’s official visit to Viet Nam in August last year.
These visits have further underscored the strong resolve of both sides to usher Viet Nam–Chile relations into a new stage of development.
Economic and trade cooperation continues to stand out as a highlight in bilateral relations, he remarked.
A photo exhibition entitled “Echoes of Two Worlds: Chile–Viet Nam” was held as part of the ceremony, showcasing images that presented Chile and Viet Nam as two distinct worlds with their own histories, yet capable of dialogue through culture, memory, and friendship.
On the occasion, the Embassy of Chile gifted a traditional Mapuche brocade textile to the Viet Nam Museum of Ethnology.
