On July 2 (local time), at the headquarters of Chile's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Nguyen Viet Cuong held talks with Chilean Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Patricio Torres.
Ambassador Nguyen Viet Cuong voiced his satisfaction over the steady and increasingly substantive development of bilateral relations, which consistently yield tangible benefits to the peoples of both Viet Nam and Chile.
According to the ambassador, with their complementary economies and shared membership of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), Viet Nam and Chile possess immense potential to expand cooperation, particularly in trade.
Ambassador Nguyen Viet Cuong affirmed that Viet Nam stands ready to serve as a bridge for Chile to strengthen its engagement with ASEAN and the Asia-Pacific region. The two sides also agreed to intensify coordination within multilateral mechanisms in which they both participate, particularly as Viet Nam prepares to host APEC 2027.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed key aspects of their bilateral relationship and underscored the significance of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1971–2026), which the two nations will commemorate in 2026.
The meeting underscored the mutual trust and high regard shared by Viet Nam and Chile, contributing to the further consolidation of the Viet Nam–Chile Comprehensive Partnership.
