The delegation includes Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul; Ambassador of Thailand to Viet Nam Urawadee Sriphiromya; Secretary-General of the Bureau of Royal Household, Principal Private Secretary to the King, Air Chief Satitpong Sukvimol; Deputy Secretary-General of the Bureau of Royal Household, Lieutenant Colonel Somchai Kanjanamanee; Aide-de-Camp to the King, Admiral Weerasak Oggungwan; and Aide-de-Camp to the King, Air Chief Marshal Chettha Muernkaew.
King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua was born on July 28, 1952, at Dusit Palace in Bangkok, Thailand. On December 28, 1972, King Bhumibol Adulyadej officially proclaimed him Crown Prince, with the title Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand. On December 1, 2016, Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn ascended the throne, becoming the 10th King of the Chakri dynasty. His official coronation ceremony took place from May 4-6, 2019.
In terms of his education, from January 1966 to May 1971, he attended King's Mead Preparatory School in Seaford, Sussex, the United Kingdom; Millfield School in Somerset, the United Kingdom; and The King's School in Parramatta, Sydney, Australia. From January 1972 to December 1976, he studied at the University of New South Wales in Australia, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Military Studies from the Faculty of Military Studies. He attended the Royal Thai Army Command and General Staff College, (Class 56) from October 1977 to September 1978. From July 1984 to October 1987, he studied at Sukhothai Thammathirat University in Bangkok, Thailand, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws. He attended the Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom from January to December 1990.
During his service in the Royal Thai Army, the King held a number of important command and staff positions. He became a Staff Officer at the Army Intelligence Department on December 9, 1975. On October 6, 1978, he became Operations Officer of the Royal Guard Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, Royal Guard Unit. On November 28, 1980, he assumed the role of the Commander of the Royal Guard Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, Royal Guard Unit. On February 13, 1984, he became the Commander of the Royal Guard Regiment. On July 30, 1988, he took up the position of the Commander of the Royal Guard Command. On January 9, 1992, he assumed the role of the Commander of the Royal Security Command, Office of the Commander-in-Chief. On May 4, 1994, he became an instructor/trainer for F-5E/F fighter aircraft pilot.
The King has been awarded the highest rank in all three branches of the armed forces: General of the Royal Thai Army; Admiral of the Royal Thai Navy; and Marshal of the Royal Thai Air Force.
