Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez Mackenna is paying an official visit to Viet Nam from August 23-25 at the invitation of Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung.

Viet Nam and Chile reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their long-standing friendship and expanding comprehensive cooperation across a wide range of sectors at a ceremony marking the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1971–2026) held in Da Nang on July 14.

Viet Nam attaches great importance to its friendship and cooperation with Chile and aspires to collaborate to further deepen bilateral relations for peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the wider world, while advancing the interests of the peoples of both countries.

The Embassy of Viet Nam in Chile met senior representatives of leading Chilean media outlets on February 12 to mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Chile (March 25, 1971–2026), sharing updates on Viet Nam’s development achievements and bilateral ties.

After six months serving as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Santiago, Chile (ACS), through the implementation of numerous diverse and wide-ranging activities, Viet Nam has contributed to enhancing ASEAN’s understanding of Chile and promoting the partnership between the two sides.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang received her Chilean counterpart Gloria de la Fuente on October 24, affirming that the presence of the Chilean delegation in Viet Nam to attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrimes demonstrates Chile’s strong commitment to joining international efforts in combating cybercrime and transnational crime.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Nguyen Viet Cuong suggested several measures for enhancing parliamentary cooperation betwene the two countries while addressing the Chilean Senate’s Committee of Foreign Relations on July 22.
