The event, jointly organised by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organisations and the Chilean Embassy in Viet Nam, brought together Chilean Ambassador Nasly Bernal Prado, Da Nang officials, representatives of foreign consulates, and business communities from both countries.
Addressing the ceremony, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, said the Comprehensive Partnership established in 2007 had provided a solid foundation for stronger bilateral cooperation, particularly through high-level political exchanges and close coordination at international forums.
She noted that significant opportunities remain in areas including the green economy, digital transformation, renewable energy, mining, innovation, trade, investment, logistics, high-tech agriculture and cultural exchanges. Deepening bilateral ties, she said, would not only benefit both countries but also strengthen links between Southeast Asia and Latin America.
Ambassador Nasly Bernal Prado described the anniversary as a celebration of more than five decades of solidarity, mutual respect and cooperation that had transformed two geographically distant nations into trusted strategic partners sharing common aspirations for development and peace.
She highlighted the positive impact of the bilateral free trade agreement, which entered into force in 2014. Two-way trade reached 2.05 billion USD in 2025, up 40.7% year-on-year. Chile is now Viet Nam's fourth-largest trading partner in Latin America, while Viet Nam is Chile's leading trading partner in ASEAN.
The ambassador said both countries still have considerable scope to expand cooperation in technological innovation, energy transition, sustainable agriculture, digital connectivity, higher education and cultural exchanges, while encouraging greater trade diversification and new investment.
Da Nang authorities also called on local agencies to make full use of the bilateral FTA and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) to boost trade, investment and business partnerships with Chile.
