On October 15, a refrigerated truck carrying 2,700 fresh Vietnamese coconuts successfully cleared customs and entered Yunnan Province through Hekou Border Gate. This shipment, originating from Ben Tre Province, weighing a total of 21.6 tonnes and valued at 110,000 yuan, marks the first shipment of fresh Vietnamese coconuts imported by road into China.

According to Chinese media, the process of harvesting the coconuts and transporting them to the border gate took less than three days. After completing the entry procedures and passing customs inspections, the shipment was transported to a distribution centre in Kunming for sale in various localities.

To facilitate the smooth clearance of the first shipment of fresh Vietnamese coconuts, local authorities in Hekou District assisted and guided businesses in preparing for the import process and enhancing coordination among inspection agencies to maximise the efficiency of goods clearance.

On the afternoon of October 15, another shipment of fresh Vietnamese coconuts weighing 22.4 tonnes and valued at 98,000 yuan was transported to Youyi Guan Border Gate in Pingxiang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. After passing inspections, it cleared customs into the Chinese market.

The first shipment of fresh Vietnamese coconuts imported by Guangxi, also from Ben Tre Province, took about three days to harvest and transport to the border gate, with customs clearance taking less than two hours. It is destined for Hunan Province, deep in inland China.

These successful initial shipments of fresh Vietnamese coconuts to China represent the latest achievement in efforts by both countries to promote the supply and export of high-quality agricultural products, deepen trade cooperation, and implement the agreements reached in recent joint statements between the two sides.
