Chinese media spotlights Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s activities

Chinese major newspapers and television have run a string of articles and news, highlighting the activities within the framework of the official visit to China by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam.

On November 1, the front page of People's Daily, the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, was covered by three joint photos of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, at the grand welcome ceremony, talks and the ceremony to present China's Friendship Order to the Vietnamese Party leader.

Spotlighting the activities of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation on the front, third and fourth pages, the newspaper noted that in addition to their talks, two Party leaders witnessed the signing ceremony of documents on bilateral cooperation across fields, including cooperation through Party channels, economy-trade, environment, culture-tourism, justice, customs and cooperation between localities.

Notably, the banquet hosted by Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, to welcome the Vietnamese Party chief, featured the participation of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, which has been elected at the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, including Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, and Li Xi.

General Secretary Xi Jinping introduced each new member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

According to the newspaper, Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated the new Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee is ready to coordinate with the new leadership of the CPC Central Committee, to strengthen cooperation and friendship between the two Parties and two countries, towards achieving new results and reaching a new height.

Xinhua News Agency and official newspapers of China have also published articles providing information about the talks between the two top leaders and many photos capturing activities within the framework of the official visit in the most prominent and dignified positions.

Xinhua news agency affirmed that the two sides agreed to uphold the “16 Words” Guideline and the spirit of “Four Good”, consolidate long-standing friendship, boost strategic exchanges, enhance political trust, control disagreements and foster comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China, to a new height.

The China Central Television (CCTV) spent more than a third of the evening news programme covering activities within the framework of the official visit by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam to China.

A grand welcome ceremony at the highest level for a head of state was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, under the chair of Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.

Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping invited Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the podium of honour, to listen to the two countries’ anthems. The top leaders review the guard of honour from the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

At the same time, the 21-cannon salute was fired at Tiananmen Square to welcome Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam.
