Chinese Premier Li Qiang pays official visit to Vietnam

Chinese Premier Li Qiang and a Chinese delegation arrive in Hanoi on October 12 for an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The Chinese delegation includes Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao, Executive Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, Director of the China International Development Cooperation Agency Luo Zhaohui, and a number of other officials.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang was born in Zhejiang Province in 1959 and holds a master’s degree in business administration. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1983.

He was the Party Secretary of Jiangsu Province from 2016-2017, and Party Secretary of Shanghai from 2017-2022. Li Qiang was appointed to the Politburo Standing Committee in October 2022 and was named Chinese Premier in March 2023.
