Comprehensive Tet care programmes for workers launched

Ahead of the 2026 Lunar New Year (Tet), the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) is rolling out a coordinated package of support programmes for union members and workers nationwide, guided by the principle that “Every worker deserves a joyful Tet.”

The Trade Union Train programme in 2026 continues to be implemented by the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour.

The VGCL will provide a total of 2,500 free train and air tickets for disadvantaged workers who are working far from home, particularly in southern provinces and cities. Under the programme Trade Union Flight – Spring 2026, 500 one-way air tickets will be allocated to Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh — localities with large numbers of migrant workers. Each beneficiary will also receive a cash gift worth 300,000 VND. Flights will depart from Tan Son Nhat Airport between February 12 and 16, 2026, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Ha Noi, Vinh, and Hue.

At the same time, the Trade Union Train – Spring 2026 programme will be expanded in scale, offering 2,000 round-trip train tickets along with 2,000 cash gifts of 300,000 VND each. Pre-Tet journeys from the south to the north will run from February 10 to 16, while return trips after Tet are scheduled from February 20 to March 1, 2026. Union leaders will meet and encourage workers at departure stations and airports before their journeys home.

Beyond travel support, the VGCL will focus on visiting and providing gifts to workers facing hardships, including those with low incomes, serious illnesses, jobs in hazardous conditions, or those affected by natural disasters. Each worker is expected to receive support worth 1.3 million VND, comprising cash and in-kind gifts.

Other initiatives include Union Reunion Tet, Union Year-End Meals, and the Trade Union Tet Market – Spring 2026, organised both online and in person. These events will offer discounted essential goods, free shopping vouchers, legal and health consultations, cultural activities, free medicine, and even free motorbike oil changes.

According to VGCL representatives, the synchronised Tet care programmes aim to strengthen social security, stabilise labour relations, and encourage workers’ long-term commitment to enterprises and trade unions.
