The event was attended by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, ambassadors of foreign missions in Viet Nam, representatives of Vietnamese ministries and agencies, and the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations, together with Vietnamese who have lived, studied or worked in Azerbaijan.
In his opening remarks, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Viet Nam, Shovgi Mehdizada, reflected on the establishment of friendly relations with Viet Nam in 1959. In 2025, bilateral ties were elevated to a Strategic Partnership, providing fresh impetus for the relationship.
He emphasised that in the time ahead, Azerbaijan anticipates further new economic cooperation projects between the two countries.
For her part, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang highlighted that Azerbaijan occupies a strategic position at the crossroads of Asian and European civilisations, where cultural and historical exchanges between the two continents have forged a distinctive identity for the country and its people.
Across more than six decades since President Ho Chi Minh’s historic visit to Baku in 1959, the affection between the peoples of Viet Nam and Azerbaijan has been continually nurtured, becoming an invaluable asset and a symbol of close bonds that transcend geographical distance.
The two countries have consistently maintained a relationship of mutual trust and promoted comprehensive cooperation across politics, the economy, trade, education and culture.
In particular, the elevation of relations to a Strategic Partnership a year ago has ushered in a new phase of development that is more substantive and effective across many fields.
Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her conviction that, on that foundation, bilateral cooperation between Viet Nam and Azerbaijan will continue to flourish strongly and sustainably, for the benefit of the peoples of both nations, and for peace and stability in the region and beyond.
The concert featured the participation of renowned Azerbaijani opera singer Fidan Hajiyeva, along with a number of artists from both countries, who delighted the audience with the Azerbaijani operetta ‘Arshin Mal Alan’ (The Cloth Peddler), as well as popular Vietnamese songs.
