Conference reviews press work

The Party Central Committee's Commission for Communication and Education chaired and coordinated with the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists' Association, and the Vietnam Publishing Association, to organise a conference on August 8, in Hanoi, to review press activity in 2022.

The conference was attended by Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia; PCC Member, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association Le Quoc Minh; Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education Tran Thanh Lam; Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Anh Tuan; and Chairman of Vietnam Publishing Association Hoang Vinh Bao, who chaired the conference.

The event also featured the participation of representatives of leading agencies, including those of press agencies and publishing houses.

The conference aims to strengthen the leadership, direction and management of press activities, publishing and implementing the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress "Building a professional, humane, and modern journalism and communication" and “Reviewing the planning of publishing, printing and distribution industry towards streamlining quality and modernisation” while grasping and evaluating press activities and propaganda of political, economic, cultural, social, national defence, security and foreign affairs tasks in the past, and directing and orienting key tasks for the future.

At the conference, the delegates listened to the Press Work Report, published in the early months of 2022 and the enthusiastic opinions and responsibilities of leaders of several governing bodies, press agencies and publishers attending the Conference.

The delegates discussed and exchanged to strengthen coordination in directing, orienting, and providing synchronous and timely information to strengthen and improve the quality and effectiveness of information and communication to orient public opinion to ensure accurate and focused propaganda, and to overcome shortcomings and limitations in the field of journalism and publishing, while proposing several issues that need attention on mechanisms, policies, training and retraining of staff, to meet the requirements of journalism and publishing activities in the new situation.

Concluding the Conference, Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasised several important and outstanding results and imprints of press and publication work over recent months.

He suggested that in the coming time, agencies directing and managing the press and publishing should focus on leading, directing, and performing well, the information and propaganda on the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress, to create high unity within the Party and society in terms of the Party's lines, guidelines and viewpoints, policies and laws of the State, and proactively provide information and knowledge, update policies and decisions in a timely, flexible and effective manner to solve difficulties, remove obstacles, ensure social security, stabilise people's lives, promote socio-economic recovery and development, all while stepping up the construction and rectification of the Party and the political system in the press and publishing agencies.
