In particular, at the exhibition booth of the Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS), a traditional partner of the Cuban Embassy, where he experienced Dong Ho folk painting and calligraphy, Rogelio Polanco Fuentes highly valued the role and contributions of VASS in research, archiving, and policy consultancy. He also reaffirmed his goodwill to foster bilateral cooperation through expert exchanges and the implementation of joint research projects.
He emphasised: “Today, we had the opportunity to visit the exhibition booth of the Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences – an institution that has made important contributions to socio-economic development, history, as well as scientific research on major events in Viet Nam’s development process. Here, we exchanged with the Academy’s leaders and once again affirmed the goodwill of Cuban institutions in promoting bilateral cooperation projects, aimed at leveraging and enhancing the research results and scientific works carried out by VASS across many fields.
In particular, we suggested that next year, on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, both sides could jointly organise an event to study and promote the ideology of the Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban Revolution, who had a very special relationship with Viet Nam and has always been cherished and remembered by the Vietnamese people. All these, together with the recent visit to Viet Nam by the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba – a new milestone in bilateral relations – further affirm the need to continue strengthening the historical ties, profound friendship, and pure, loyal solidarity between the two peoples.”

Assc. Prof. Dr. Ta Minh Tuan, Vice President of the Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences, stressed that international cooperation is a top priority in order to bring the Academy to a regional and global level. At the same time, digital transformation has been identified as a strategic pillar, with a five-year plan to build an intelligent management system, an electronic library, and a digital database with international connectivity.
International cooperation has always been one of VASS key priorities, as it is an institution of fundamental scientific research and policy consultancy. Recently, making VASS a research body on par with those in the region and the world has become a major future development direction.
“International cooperation brings two extremely important benefits to VASS. Firstly, international cooperation will help VASS enhance research capacity, expand knowledge in social sciences and humanities, and gradually catch up with global standards. Secondly, through international conferences, seminars, exchanges, and joint research, VASS can perform a vital policy consultancy function, from which we can learn and draw valuable development experiences from other countries,” Assc. Prof. Dr. Ta Minh Tuan affirmed.
At the exhibition, held from August 28 to September 15, VASS showcased more than 1,000 books and outstanding works, covering history, culture, philosophy, linguistics, ethnology, economics, politics, law, and international integration. The event not only helped the public gain a deeper understanding of 80 years of the country’s achievements but also affirmed VASS pioneering role in global knowledge integration and strengthening mutual understanding with other countries, including Cuba.
