According to Cuc Phuong National Park, the Vietnamese representative outperformed several strong competitors worldwide, including Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park of Japan, Chitwan National Park of Nepal, Minnieriya National Park of Sri Lanka, Kinabalu and Taman Negara National Parks of Malaysia, as well as Cat Tien National Park of Vietnam, to get the status at the awarding ceremony held in Manila, the Philippines, on September 3.

This is the sixth consecutive year that Cuc Phuong has been awarded this title.

As the first National Park in Vietnam, Cuc Phuong National Park is considered as one of the public service units that has been effectively using the investment resources of the Government and support from domestic and international organisations.

The results of forest protection and biodiversity conservation are also used to serve scientific research and ecotourism services in a bid to raise awareness, develop community livelihoods, as well as contributing to rapid, green and sustainable economic development.

This award continues to affirm the attractiveness of ecotourism - a type of tourism that has been and is being utilised in National Parks and conservation areas in Vietnam. It is also a great motivation for Vietnam's forestry management agencies to continue to promote the multi-use of forests. At the same time, it is expected to be a golden opportunity to boost the image of beautiful nature and Vietnamese tourism globally.

The World Travel Awards is the world’s leading award in the tourism industry, held annually since 1993. To date, the award has become the most prestigious brand in the world in honouring outstanding achievements in the tourism industry in all fields. This award is also known as the Oscar award of the world tourism.

It is also the recognition of the sacrifices and contributions of the indigenous community, experts, scientists and millions of tourists.”

The park covers an area of 22,408 ha in 14 communes, four districts in three provinces of Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa. With the characteristics of a tropical rainforest, Cuc Phuong includes an extremely valuable biodiversity system, one of the places with high biodiversity in Vietnam and many rare species of animals and plants listed in the Red Book of Vietnam. Besides the diversity of vegetation, Cuc Phuong's fauna is also extremely rich and unique which is a wonderful natural museum preserving many traces of life from prehistoric times to the present day.

From the model of Cuc Phuong National Park, a system of national parks has been formed nationwide, with good forest management and protection as well as many research achievements, contributing to creating a map of ecotourism in Vietnam.
