The event was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Viet Nam He Wei and his spouse, leaders of Da Nang, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions and a large audience from both countries.

The concert forms part of the 2026 cultural exchange and promotion programme of the Guangxi Arts Fund. It was jointly organised by the Chinese Consulate General in Da Nang, the Chinese Cultural Centre in Ha Noi, the Guangxi Arts University and the Viet Nam Musicians' Association, with the aim of strengthening bilateral friendship through music.

Do Hong Quan, Vice-President of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front and Chairman of the Viet Nam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, said the project was launched in 2025 to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and China.

He noted that the initiative brought together composers and poets from both countries on creative field trips in Viet Nam and China, resulting in the completion of an eight-piece symphonic programme and two songs, arranged in four movements. The work premiered in Nanning, Guangxi, before being performed in Ho Chi Minh City, where it received a warm response from audiences and music professionals.

Chinese organisers have continued to stage performances of the symphony throughout 2026 to broaden its cultural impact.

Quan said the concert demonstrated music's unique ability to transcend borders, foster mutual understanding and connect people through shared cultural values.

He expressed confidence that the melodies of Evergreen Friendship would continue to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and contribute to the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Viet Nam and China, as well as efforts to build a Viet Nam–China community with a shared future.
