Of the 350 approved production support projects and models, there are the participation of 11,625 households. Total implementation funding amounts to more than 1,014.8 billion VND.

Of this sum, more than 334.8 billion VND, or 33%, comes from State budget support, while counterpart funding from residents, businesses and cooperatives totals more than 680 billion VND, accounting for 67%.

By production method, 257 of the 350 projects and models involve production linkages along value chains, while the remaining 93 follow a community-based production support model.

Following field inspections and meetings with the Provincial Departments of Agriculture and Environment, Finance, and Ethnic and Religious Affairs, the supervisory delegation of the Dien Bien Provincial People’s Council’s Ethnic Affairs Committee noted several positive aspects of the implementation process.

These included effective direction and guidance from relevant departments and agencies, ensuring that projects and models remained aligned with their objectives and focused on crops in which the province has advantages, such as coffee and macadamia, as well as other agricultural products suited to local conditions. Technical guidance and on-site inspections had also been strengthened.

The projects and models had initially helped establish concentrated production areas, create livelihoods and improve local residents’ production capacity, particularly among ethnic minority communities.

However, to ensure the long-term sustainability of these production support projects and models, Bui Minh Hai, Vice Chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial People’s Council, called on relevant departments and agencies to proactively work with local authorities to explore ways to connect and attract capable enterprises and cooperatives to participate in production links. He also urged them to secure stable offtake contracts for products from local production areas, ensuring reliable markets for residents.
