The several senior leaders of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party include Acting Secretary-General Hagiuda Koichi, Policy Research Council Chairman Kobayashi Takayuki, and International Affairs Bureau Chairman Kono Taro, as well as several members of parliament and young LDP leaders.
At the meetings, the two sides highly valued the rapid, positive, and substantive development of Viet Nam-Japan relations and agreed to strongly promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries through party, parliamentary, and governmental channels.
The two sides affirmed that close cooperation between the two ruling parties would contribute to deepening bilateral relations. They agreed to promote discussions towards the early signing of a new cooperation agreement between the Communist Party of Viet Nam and the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, while studying the establishment of an annual exchange and dialogue mechanism between the leaders and specialised agencies of the two parties. Such efforts would contribute to advancing relations between the two countries across all areas.
Prof, Dr Nguyen Xuan Thang affirmed that, with the shared goals of promoting economic growth and strategic autonomy, alongside priorities for developing strategic industries and advancing science and technology, Viet Nam and Japan have considerable scope to expand and strengthen cooperation, particularly in emerging areas such as digital transformation, green transition, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and high-quality human resource training.
He also called for stronger economic linkages and enhanced cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment, and local-level cooperation.
