The boxer will receive a certificate of merit and a cash award worth three times the basic wage.

Her coach Nguyen Nhu Cuong and the Hanoi Sports Training Centre, where Tam is training, were also praised by the Hanoi leader with certificates of merit.

At the final match in the 48-50kg category, Tam levelled the score in the second round against the host country’s Nikhat Zareen but failed to win in the third round.

With the silver medal, Tam has become the first Vietnamese female boxer to claim second place at the Women's World Boxing Championships.
