Ngo Phuong Lan, head of the Cinematography Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, released the information at a press conference in Hanoi on January 23.

The opening ceremony of the event will be held in Hanoi on January 30 and in Cao Bang province one day later, Lan said.

‘Thau Chin (President Ho Chi Minh’s nickname) in Siam’ by director Bui Tuan Dung will be screened to open the film week. The film recalls Nguyen Ai Quoc’s revolutionary operation between 1928 and 1929 in Thailand, where he built a revolutionary base and made preparation for merging three communist organisations towards establishing the Vietnam Communist Party on February 3, 1930.

The HD source of the film will be provided to local film distributors and cinemas to ensure the film be shown nationwide. In addition, the Cinematography Department will also send over 700 patches of the film ‘Volunteers’ to mobile cinema teams to serve people in rural, mountainous, border and island areas across the country.
