Football: Majestic Lyon beat Wolfsburg to win Women's Champions League

Striker Eugenie Le Sommer scored one goal and made another as Olympique Lyonnais beat VfL Wolfsburg 3-1 to win the UEFA Women's Champions League for an unprecedented fifth time in a row.

* A year after capturing French hearts, Julian Alaphilippe claimed the Tour de France yellow jersey again when he kept his composure to win the second stage on Sunday (Aug 30).

* Austin Ernst rallied to win the NW Arkansas Championship on Sunday (Aug 30) for her second LPGA Tour title, closing with an 8-under 63 for a two-stroke victory over Anna Nordqvist. Ernst, 28 and ranked 58th in the world, had 10 birdies in an eight-under par 63 that gave her a 54-hole total of 20-under par 193.

* Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart each scored 21 points to lead the Boston Celtics over defending champion Toronto 112-94 in Sunday's (Aug 30) opening game of their second-round NBA playoff series. Kemba Walker added 18 points and 10 assists for the Celtics, who also had 17 points from Jaylen Brown plus 13 points and 15 rebounds from Daniel Theis.

* Olympique Marseille striker Florian Thauvin scored a first goal in more than a year and set up two others to help his side to a winning start in their 2020-21 Ligue 1 season with a 3-2 success at Brest on Sunday (Aug 30).

* Andy Murray says his true self will be on show at a Grand Slam for the first time in three years this week at the US Open after battling back from a career-threatening hip injury.

* Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has hailed a test event for the partial return of supporters as a success, after 2,500 fans attended Brighton's friendly with Chelsea. It was the first time fans had been allowed into a Premier League ground since the top-flight was suspended in March due to the coronavirus.

* Niko Kovac earned his first Ligue 1 victory as Monaco coach on Sunday (Aug 30) as his side beat Metz 1-0, while Jonathan Bamba continued to rediscover his scoring touch with Lille winning by the same score at Reims.

* Juventus have signed United States international midfielder Weston McKennie on a one-season loan from German club Schalke with an option to buy at the end of the campaign, the Italian champions said late on Saturday (Aug 29). The Turin club will pay €4.5 million for the loan period and up to €25.5 million more if they decide to make the move permanent, Juventus said in a statement.

* Tottenham on Sunday (Aug 30) announced the signing of defender Matt Doherty from Premier League rivals Wolves for an undisclosed fee reported to be £15 million (US$20 million). The 28-year-old Ireland right-back has signed a four-year deal with Spurs and becomes Jose Mourinho's third signing of the transfer window following the arrivals of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart.

* Lewis Hamilton took another step towards a record-equalling seventh Formula One title on Sunday with a dominant lights-to-flag victory in the Belgian Grand Prix.

* Everton defender Michael Keane has signed a new five-year contract, the club said on Sunday. Centre back Keane, 27, earned a recall to Gareth Southgate’s England squad this week and capped a memorable few days with a new contract to keep him at Goodison Park until 2025.
