The diplomat made the remark at a meeting hosted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in Hanoi on January 11 with representatives of embassies, foreign journalists and press attaches on the occasion of the 2016 New Year.
The Deputy FM briefed the guests on Vietnam’s significant events in 2015, including the 40th anniversary of the South’s liberation and national reunification, 70th anniversary of the National Day, and a series of events to mark Vietnam’s diplomatic ties with foreign countries.
The year 2015 also saw Vietnam’s success in hosting the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132), which were highly appreciated by international friends.
He affirmed that Vietnam maintains its political and security stability with its economy on the right track.
He thanked foreign correspondents and press attaches for their timely and truthfully coverage of Vietnam’s situation and achievements over the past year.
He expressed his hope to receive more support from embassies, foreign journalists and press attaches in updating international friends on Vietnam’s situation as well as the country’s stance on regional and international issues, thus shortening the geographic distance and increasing information exchanges between Vietnamese and peoples around the world.
He pledged that the MOFA would continue creating favourable conditions for foreign media to truthfully, fully and timely report on Vietnam’s external activities while facilitating the co-ordination between foreign journalists and international organisations with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities.
He also took the occasion to wish the guests a New Year full of health, happiness and success.
