Welcoming Schmidt’s visit to Vietnam, the Government leader expressed his delight at Google’s successful business operations in Vietnam, with many of their products becoming popular and familiar with consumers and businesses throughout the country.

Vietnam always creates favourable conditions for foreign companies, including those from the United States, to conduct fruitful business in Vietnam, he affirmed.

PM Phuc informed the guest of his upcoming working trip to the US, which will include talks with US President Donald Trump, emphasizing that there remains a lot of potential and numerous opportunities for bilateral cooperation in terms of economics, trade and investment, bringing about benefits for both sides.

Over recent times, some people have used Youtube to publish false information that violates the Vietnamese law, he said, requesting that Google work closely with the Vietnamese contingent to handle and discard this distorted information.

For his part, Executive Chairman of Alphabet Inc. Eric Schmidt pledged to support the cooperative relations between Vietnam and the US, adding that he was impressed by the Vietnamese people’s ability and qualifications, which are manifested through the large number of Vietnamese using Youtube for educational purposes.

Schmidt noted that he had recently attended the inaugural ceremony for a Google-funded project organized to train Vietnamese farmers in digital skills, thereby facilitating their use of information in service of their daily lives and production.

The guest also pledged to work closely with the Vietnamese side to remove false and malicious information, which violates the Vietnamese law, and to consider the foundation of an official representative office of Google in Vietnam.

PM Phuc spoke highly of Google’s support for the Vietnam Farmers’ Association in the training of digital skills for dozens of thousands of Vietnamese farmers, adding that he would assign Vietnam’s authorised agencies to consider and deal with the issues raised by the Alphabet executive chairman in the spirit of creating favourable conditions for businesses.
