The memorial is set to become a sacred cultural and spiritual destination, honouring the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of both nations.
The event was jointly organised by the Central Culture Committee of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha, its Laos Coordination Board, the Laos Buddhist Alliance of Xiengkhouang, and the Vietnamese community in the province.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam emphasised the site’s spiritual significance and the enduring Viet Nam-Laos solidarity forged through shared sacrifice. He highlighted the role of Buddhism in nurturing bilateral ties and called on future generations to honour this legacy.
Over 12,000 sets of remains of Vietnamese martyrs have been repatriated from Xiengkhouang since 1984.
On this occasion, Viet Nam’s representatives donated funds for local flood relief and scholarships worth around 4 billion VND to Lao students. A cooperation agreement was also signed between the Buddhist delegations of Nghe An Province and Xiengkhouang Province to promote cultural and religious exchange.
The ceremony concluded with a groundbreaking ritual and prayers, reaffirming the eternal friendship between Viet Nam and Laos.
