Hanoi: French food festival to hold a special edition

The French food festival "Balade en France" 2023, will hold a special edition at Ly Thai To Square and the pedestrian area around Hoan Kiem Lake, from April 14 to 16.

The festival is jointly organised by the French Embassy in Vietnam and the Hanoi municipal People's Committee.

As one of the important events, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the France-Vietnam diplomatic relations, the festival will be a place to promote French cuisine, following the success of the 2018 and 2020 editions.

The festival will feature several popular French-made products such as cheese, wine, butter, bacon, crepes, and chocolate,among other items, with attractive discounts on offer for visitors to enjoy.

Guests will also have the chance to participate in an exciting musical party, with Vietnamese and French artist performances,together with other activities, including French film screenings, street music, drawing, and wine tasting.

On this occasion, several French restaurants in Hanoi will showcase some of the most popular French dishes, to bring a French-styled experience to visitors.

Nicolas Warnery, French Ambassador to Vietnam said, that this event will highlight the excellence, responsibility, enjoyment, authenticity, and innovation of French gastronomic products,under the aegis of "Taste France".

He also stressed that Vietnamese and French have similar tasteswhen it comes to eating and drinking. In Hanoi and throughout Vietnam, French cuisine and products are abundantly present. This expresses the "culture of sharing", also the slogan for the 50th anniversary of relations between the two countries.

The official opening ceremony of this year's special edition "Balade en France", in Hanoi, will take place at 7 pm on Friday, April 14. The festival will be open to visitors from 10 am to 10 pm Saturday, April 15 and Sunday, April 16.
