The activity took place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the “Hanoi – Dien Bien Phu in the air” victory.

The delegation was led by Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Municipal Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung.

50 years ago, during the 12 days and nights of brave and clever fighting, Hanoi's army and people achieved the miracle of “Hanoi – Dien Bien Phu in the air”, smashing the largest and most brutal strategic air raid of the US imperialists. Along with that glorious victory, the capital's army and people suffered great losses and sacrifices, including the painful loss of citizens on Kham Thien Street.

Kham Thien Monument was built to commemorate the soldiers and victims of American B-52 bombers in the night of December 26, 1972. A total of 577 people were killed and injured during that air raid.
